COR Rebranding

Background

Chapel of the Resurrection is one of the largest anglican churches in Singapore. Playing an active role in the anglican community, the church is housed within the compound of the iconic clocktower designed by architect Frank Wilmin Brewer.

Challenge

To rebrand the church’s identity.

Brief

To create an identity that represents both the church’s history as well as the site’s historical value. Weaving the positive impact that the church has on the local community with what the church means to its members.

Solution

The building holds a plethora of history – from being home to students of St Andrew’s, to a key site of operations in the Japanese occupation, to its final designation as the home to the Diocese of Singapore and Chapel of the Resurrection.

Both members of the Potong Pasir community and members of the church identify this landmark as significant and one that brings both communities together. Often giving back to the community in forms free-to-attend events like the Christmas Carnival and festivities, this site holds historical significance and is the bulwark of “kampung spirit” for Potong Pasir.

The solution is simple. Paying homage to its history and impact made on the community, it is only fitting that the facade of the building be used as the church’s logo. One where members proudly call home.
